The active ingredient in Buscopan® is Hyoscine Butylbromide, a substance derived from a species of the plant genes Duboisia. Hyoscine Butylbromide is one of the families of drugs known as antispasmodics. As the name suggests, these drugs suppress and relieve spasms. What makes Hyoscine Butylbromide effective against stomach aches, cramps and discomfort is its extremely targeted effect. It doesn´t simply mask the pain, like an analgesic.
