Stomach aches are the result of cramped stomach muscles, sometimes referred to as a spasm.
As a sufferer you might experience different symptoms, dull aches, twisting or even stabbing pain.
It is sometimes difficult to work out exactly what causes stomach pain. What might cause discomfort for some may not cause discomfort for others.
The organs of the digestive system are extremely sensitive to internal and external influences. Everything that we eat passes through the digestive tract, so any sensitivity or intolerance to food may cause stomach pain. The stomach reacts to both physical and psychological stimuli. Nervousness and tension may cause cramps in the muscles of the stomach, intestine or colon, resulting in stomach pain.
While such treatments such as pain killers may provide some relief, they are simply masking the pain, not treating the cause of the discomfort. To actually relieve the pain from the stomach, try a specialised relief that works directly at the site of the problem.
Of course, if you experience stomach pain and cramps that are ongoing or worsening, or if the pain is accompanied by fever or weight loss, or if you notice blood on your stools, it is important to seek medical advice immediately.
