1. What is Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte®? Buscopan® and double strength Buscopan Forte® is an antispasmodic medication which specifically relieves stomach aches and pains due to cramps and spasms. Buscopan® and double strength Buscopan Forte® works directly on the muscles of the stomach to relieve the cramps and spasm that cause the discomfort of stomach pain. |

2. Does Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® contain lactose? No, Buscopan® does not contain lactose. However Buscopan Forte® does. Please see enclosed leaflet for further details. |

3. What are the differences between Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® and a painkiller? Buscopan® and double strength Buscopan Forte® acts only where the cramps and pains occur - in the stomach. Many analgesics act by reducing the pain awareness by blocking the pain signals, thereby masking the pain. Buscopan® and double strength Buscopan Forte® relieve the cause of the stomach pain and discomfort. |

4. Can I take more than the normal dosage? It is not advisable to take more than the recommended dosage. If your doctor or pharmacist has changed the recommended dose you should ask for further information from your doctor or pharmacist. |

5. How do I take Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® Tablets? It is recommended Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® Tablets be swallowed whole with a glass of water. |

6. Can children take Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte®? Buscopan® and double strength Buscopan Forte® are only recommended for adults and children over 6 years. For children under 6 years, consult a doctor. |

7. Is it safe to take Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® during pregnancy or lactation? As with all medication, you should ask for your doctor's advice if you are pregnant, likely to become pregnant or are breastfeeding or likely to be breastfeeding during the course of your medication. |

8. When should I see my doctor about my stomach pain? You should be especially cautious if your ailment lasts longer than 2 days or if the pain is severe, if you have a fever, if you notice blood on your stools, or if you notice sudden weight loss. You should consult a doctor for advice. |

9. What should I do if I have taken too much Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte®? Seek medical advice if you have taken more than the recommended or prescribed dose. Advice can be provided by a doctor, pharmacist or Poisons Information Centre (13 11 26). |

10. How should I store Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte®? Buscopan®/Buscopan Forte® Tablets should be kept in a cool dry place where the temperature stays below 25°C. Do not store in direct sunlight or heat. For example do not leave Buscopan® or Buscopan Forte® in the car on hot days. Store in a safe place where children cannot reach it. |

11. Do I only need to take one tablet of Buscopan Forte®? Yes. Buscopan Forte® is a unique double strength formulation which means that you only take one tablet per dose. |

12. How do I know which Buscopan® product to take? You can be confident that either Buscopan® or double strength Buscoapn Forte® will help relieve your stomach aches and cramps. If you feel your pain is a bit more severe than usual, or you prefer a single tablet dose, then double strength Buscopan Forte is probably your best choice. Otherwise Buscopan will effectively relieve your stomach aches, cramps or discomfort. |
